CSR Project Details of IRCTC

Projects undertaken during FY 2012-13:-

Project # 1) SPIC MACAY – Virasat 2012:- During the year, IRCTC under its CSR activity, extended financial support to SPIC MACAY, a non-profit, voluntary and participatory youth movement fully dedicated to enriching education by presenting a holistic vision of Indian music, art and culture, for organizing an event – Virasat 2012 for promoting Art & Culture and rich heritage of the country amongst youth. The cost of the project was Rs. 3 lac. The events were organized in schools/colleges of Delhi/NCR during the month of September, October, November & December 2012.


Project # 2) SPIC MACAY – Running of Special Heritage Train :- In order to expose the young generation of the country to the rich heritage & culture, a project was under taken in association with SPIC MACAY. SPIC MACAY is a renowned society for promotion of Indian Classical Music and culture amongst the youth. Through this project, around 1000 students were taken for heritage trip for 09 days through a Special Heritage Train covering places like Ajmer, Abu road, Dwarka, Somnath, Ahmedabad, Udaipur and Chittaugarh. The cost of the project was Rs. 99,28,345/-.


During the tour, the children were taken to various places of cultural and heritage interest.
Various cultural programme & competitions were also conducted.


Project # 3) Development of campus at Dwarka, Sec 9 :- IRCTC has contributed for construction of campus at Dwarka Sector 9 – Asian Institute of Transport Development devoted to education, training and non-partisan research and studies in an interdisciplinary perspective in infrastructure sector with special focus on transport and logistics. The campus spreads over five acre plot of land and is being developed in two phases. The first phase consists of the teaching block, the library and a state-of-the-art IT centre. The second phase will be taken up later and will comprise of a 90 room hostel for scholars and visiting faculty. IRCTC has contributed a sum of Rs. 2 crore for this project.






List of CSR projects in 2015-16:

  • 1) Provision of 01 Mobile Medi-care unit at Kushinagar, UP: IRCTC will be sponsoring the project for providing primary medicare facility at Kushi Nagar, U.P. for the 2nd year also i.e. 2015-16.
  • 2) Provision of golf carts, RO water dispensing machines & wheel chairs at various railway stations: The efforts for providing a convenient travel & joy full experience to elderly persons, physically dis-abled persons & other needy passengers at railway stations, the services of golf carts, RO purified drinking water & wheel chair facilities are being extended to other locations also during 2015-16.
  • 3) Development of Model Village at Malla Salya kot, Uttarakhand (undertaken in 2013-14): The project for development of model village has been completed. During the FY 2015-16, IRCTC will be funding Rs. 50,000/- as maintenance cost for ensuring sustainability of the project. This will enable the villagers to continue their efforts towards adoption of updated techniques on farming & other areas.
  • 4) Construction of toilet complex at Sawai Madhopur: IRCTC has constructed a toilet complex at Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan in association with Sulabh Sanitation Mission Foundation. During the year 2015-16 the maintenance of this complex will also be funded by IRCTC.
  • 5) Auto-taxi drivers training: During the FY 2015-16, IRCTC will be providing free training to Auto-taxi drivers for skill development at different locations on PAN India basis. A total of 1250 persons will be trained.
  • 6) Provision for passenger amentities at Varanasi, CSTM, Manduadih, Ghazipur & Varanasi Cantt. : Under this project, various areas which require improvement will identified jointly by IRCTC & Railways & upgradation of the same will be then carried out.
  • 7) SMS on E-ticketing – a paperless regime: In this go green project, effort has been made to save lakhs of paper. IRCTC sends a SMS on booking of every e-ticket through IRCTC’s website. These SMSs are valid for travel over the Indian Railways and as such passengers do not require to carry a print out of the ticket resulting in saving of lakhs of papers.
